I taught two yoga classes in the past month, one of which being my teacher training evaluation. I created a theme and upon preparing it, these words flowed from my heart in to my computer. Though I used it when teaching a class, these words are relevant at any time.
One of my favourite sayings is "if I asked you to list all the things you love, how long would it take to name yourself?"
In today's society we are not taught how to love ourselves rather to look outward for the tools to help ourselves. Instead of going outwards remember that everything you need is already inside of you. Courage. Gratitude. Love. Strength.
We need to remind ourselves that we’re wonderful creatures. Our bodies are magnificent. Each time you breathe deeply, your body, like a well-oiled machine has energy flowing all around. Its systems work together like cogs with tiny spokes fitting perfectly in to each other as they spin harmoniously.
These processes are beautiful. You are beautiful. You are worthy. Of everything - particularly self-love. You are capable of anything you set your mind to. Set an intention for yourself with a feat you'd like to accomplish - whether it is to hold a difficult pose as long as possible, to breathe deeply in to all the hidden corners of your body, to give in to deep relaxation during savasana - or something not yoga related like living more freely or exuding more gratitude. Any area that may be troublesome to you on a regular day can be your amazing accomplishment today.
Today can be special - it can be the day you realize that you are enough and deserve to honour your body the same way your body honours you each day. Your body allows you to wake up, to breathe in and out and enjoy this life that you've been given.
With a deep breath, breathe in all the positive energy and amazing goals you have set for yourself and exhale any negativity or self-doubt that may still linger.
