Wake up, Work out, Feel good

I'm learning how to arrange my schedule so that I can fit in every aspect of my life. Yesterday was a prime example.

I started training one client even though I'm not done with the training certification. She is my "starter client". So it's a learning process and definitely good practice for the practical exam that I will soon have to take.

I do work during the day and due to a work function yesterday evening I had to go straight to train her instead of getting my work out in first. So, I decided to try out 6am bootcamp.

Best. Decision. Ever.

I ended up being the only one there. Plus it was with my favorite out of all the trainers at Siscoe Gym, Heidi. The workout was great as was the company.

Over the weekend I attended Olympic weightlifting at my gym, which I try to do most Sundays. We did snatches and I just could not lift 55 lbs. 35? No problem. 45? No problem. 55? Almost in tears out of frustration.. I hit a new personal record of 55 pounds yesterday morning!

Waking up super early and getting to the gym for 6am is tough. To help me get up and get out I prepared everything in advance – my lunch for work, all my clothes/shower stuff/etc, even my breakfast! The breakfast was something I’ve always wanted to try making – overnight oats. I found a great recipe online and adapted it for what I wanted. Here’s my version:

Overnight Oats

  • 1/2 cup gluten free rolled oats

  • 1 tsp chia seeds

  • 1 tsp flax meal

  • 1 tsp of cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg

  • 1 tsp organic cacao powder

  • 2 tbsp unsweetened applesauce

  • 1/2 cup coconut almond milk

Throw all the contents into a bowl/jar/container and mix well. Cover and stick in the fridge overnight. In the morning eat it cold or heat it up. So good!

This idea reiterates what I’ve said before – preparation is key!
