I’ve been thinking a lot lately (surprising I know! Haha) and just want to stress to all my readers how important it is to be happy. Happiness is something that is different for every person! Lately, I am happiest when I am at the gym – immersed in a workout. Others may be happiest when they are lying in the sunshine reading a book. Another may be happiest when he or she is in the company of good friends or a significant other. Hand in hand with happiness, I find, is passion.
“There are plenty of obstacles in your path. Don’t allow yourself to become one of them” I found this quote a couple of days ago and I have to say – it perfectly describes the past few days :) Sunday, May 26th was the Spartan Race up in Morin Heights. I registered to partake in this crazy event back in January (or Feb?) and have used it as motivation in my workouts ever since. I have other motivators but this was definitely a big one! This would also be a huge step outside my
So these words speak to me… They are some of my favourite inspirational words at the moment. They relate to what I am going through and what I constantly think about but can not yet write about here. I just wanted to share! These are all on my Pinterest.
This past weekend was a long weekend due to Victoria Day. I took it easy and took advantage of the extra time to work out, relax and bake cookies! Saturday morning was bootcamp as usual followed by visiting my dad. We cooked lunch and stored leftovers for the next few days. This is a go-to meal of mine – super healthy plus it is protein/nutrient packed. Quinoa and Veggies In a large pot pour in the desired amount of quinoa and chopped vegetables of your choosing. Wow. I am still on a high from today’s workout.. It seemed easy at first. Was very intense… and SO MUCH FUN. Before I get in to what we did today I need to recount the story of how I arrived at the gym. Class starts at 6:30. I finish work at 5 and on days where bootcamp is at 6:30 I go home to get the car then cruise on over to the gym. I knew I was going to be early and figured I’d just relax and read or something. So I show up at about 5:50pm and go to take my bag out of th
Monday night bootcamp. No better way to start the week! Today’s WOD: 150m row (or 45 skips) / 1 burpee 150m row (or 45 skips) / 2 burpees 150m row(or 45 skips) / 3 burpees …… 150m row (or 45 skips) / 10 burpees 150m row (or 45 skips) / 10 burpees 150m row (or 45 skips) / 9 burpees …… 150m row (or 45 skips) / 1 burpee THE END (Literally. I sprawled out on the floor after this one!!) I pushed really hard on this workout. To the point where I felt like passing out a few times (y
Tired? All you want to do is stay in bed? Not feeling well because of it? LISTEN TO YOUR BODY. I stayed home on Thursday because I was so drained and tired that I felt sick from it. After sleeping most of the day I felt ok enough to go the gym for what I thought would be a light work out (bootcamp but scaled). In the end I opted to do regular bootcamp at protocol weight and achieved a new personal record for Thrusters! (an olympic weightlifting movement) WOD: Strength – Thrus
So… many months ago I stopped writing this blog. Why, you may wonder? The short version: I got sick and discovered I needed surgery on my septum/sinuses. With the difficulty breathing it was hard for me to work out and I felt sick all the time. Things like working out and cooking all the time kind of fell to the side. At the same time, my dad fell ill. I had my surgery in January and have healed nicely (albeit I still have trouble breathing when doing intense cardio). My dad?
